“Breaking News Kaduna Mourns The Passing Of Traditional RulerThe serene township of Manchok in Kaduna State stood still on Saturday as it bid farewell to a revered leader and custodian of tradition, Chief Tagwai Sambo. The first-class traditional ruler, who dedicated 58 years of his life to the throne of Moro’a in Kaura Government Area, was laid to rest amidst heartfelt tributes and solemn ceremonies.
Chief Tagwai Sambo, aged 88 at the time of his passing, was celebrated not only for his long tenure but also for his unwavering commitment to peace and community development. Born on December 24, 1936, Chief Sambo assumed leadership at a youthful age of 30 in 1966, following his distinguished service as the Commissioner for Works and Housing in the North Regional Government.
The funeral service, held at the Manchok Township Square, was graced by dignitaries from across Kaduna State and beyond. Among them were the Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Hadiza Balarabe, former Governor Ahmed Makarfi, and Senator Sunday Katung. Their presence underscored Chief Sambo’s significant influence and the respect he commanded throughout his lifetime.
Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe extolled Chief Sambo’s role in maintaining peace, describing him as not just a custodian of tradition but a beacon of harmony in turbulent times. She emphasized his pivotal contributions to the cultural and social fabric of Moro’a and beyond.
The late Chief’s widow, Alisabatu Sambo, fondly recalled her husband’s humility and selflessness, highlighting his dedication to serving others and his profound impact on the community. Her tribute painted a portrait of a man whose life journey was defined by compassion and kindness.
Senator Sunday Katung paid homage to Chief Sambo’s leadership, emphasizing his pivotal role in the growth and development of Kaduna State. He acknowledged the late ruler’s vision and foresight in navigating challenges and promoting unity among diverse communities.
Bishop Mathew Kukah delivered a poignant message to the youth, urging them to honor Chief Tagwai Sambo’s memory by upholding his legacy of love, peace, faith, and unwavering principles. His words resonated deeply, encapsulating the enduring impact of Chief Sambo’s leadership on future generations.
Former Governor Ahmed Makarfi concluded the tributes by highlighting Chief Sambo’s exemplary character and steadfast commitment to peaceful coexistence. He lauded the late ruler as a paragon of decency and a symbol of unity, whose influence transcended traditional boundaries.
Amidst prayers and solemn rituals, Chief Tagwai Sambo was laid to rest in his ancestral hometown of Manchok, marking the end of an era for Moro’a. His legacy as a visionary leader and peacemaker will continue to resonate, serving as a guiding light for the community he cherished and the people he dedicated his life to serving.
