Broad Daylight Bank Heist: Security Guard Shot As Robbers Flee With Cash!A dramatic armed robbery occurred on Friday at a commercial bank in Ughelli, Delta State, leaving three people injured, including a private security guard, as a bank customer was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money.

The robbery, carried out by a gang of five armed men in a Toyota Venza, took place in broad daylight and caused widespread panic along Isoko Road in Otovwodo, where the bank is located.

According to eyewitnesses, the robbers appeared to have followed their victim to the bank premises. They fired shots sporadically before grabbing three “Ghana Must Go” bags filled with money as the customer approached the bank’s entrance.

The gunfire injured a private security guard and two other individuals. Emergency services responded quickly, and the victims are now receiving medical treatment, though the extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.

SP Bright Edafe, spokesman for the Delta State Police Command, confirmed the robbery. Edafe clarified that the incident was a targeted attack on a bank customer rather than a bank heist. “A bank customer was double-crossed before he could get to the bank. It’s not a bank robbery,” Edafe stated.

In response to the incident, law enforcement authorities have increased security around the bank and other critical areas in the metropolis to reassure the public and prevent further incidents.

The robbery has significantly impacted the local economy, with many shop owners around Upper Agbarho Junction on Isoko Road closing their businesses for the day due to safety concerns.
