Bwala Blasts Peter Obi: “He Doesn’t Know How To Do It

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has criticised former Anambra State Governor and newly nominated presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, alleging that the politician lacks a clear roadmap for implementing his proposed policies.

According to reports, Bwala made the remarks on Monday through a post on X, where he argued that Obi’s political approach focuses heavily on identifying the nation’s challenges without adequately outlining practical solutions or implementation strategies.

The comments followed Obi’s emergence as the NDC’s presidential flagbearer for the 2027 general election. The former Labour Party presidential candidate had recently unveiled a set of policy proposals aimed at addressing insecurity, unemployment, and economic difficulties facing the country.

Among the promises highlighted by Obi was a commitment to raise Nigeria’s electricity generation and distribution capacity to at least 10,000 megawatts within four years if elected president. The proposal formed part of a broader agenda centered on economic revitalisation, job creation, and improved public services.

Reacting to the plans, Bwala questioned Obi’s ability to translate his ideas into actionable policies, asserting that the former governor had yet to demonstrate a convincing strategy for achieving his stated objectives. In his post, he maintained that Obi’s political identity is largely built around pointing out problems while failing to provide detailed explanations on how they would be resolved.

The exchange is expected to add momentum to political debates ahead of the 2027 elections, as major political figures begin to position themselves and present competing visions for the country’s future.

In a separate development, Bwala also criticised Arise Television presenter Rufai Oseni, accusing the broadcaster of acting as an unofficial supporter of Obi. His remarks came after Oseni questioned Obi during a media engagement about the feasibility of his electricity target and the mechanisms he would employ to achieve it if elected.

Despite acknowledging the interviewer’s challenge to Obi’s proposal, Bwala suggested that the line of questioning was merely an attempt to project neutrality. He urged Oseni to openly align himself with Obi’s political movement if he genuinely supported the former governor’s aspirations.

The latest comments underscore the intensifying political exchanges surrounding Obi’s presidential bid and highlight the growing scrutiny of policy proposals likely to dominate discussions as the 2027 election cycle gathers pace.
