Chelsea’s Adarabioyo Hints At Nigeria Switch After National Team Visit

Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has reaffirmed his openness to representing the Nigeria national football team, stating that he would be proud to don the green and white. According to Ireporter Online, Adarabioyo revealed that a recent visit to Nigeria further strengthened his connection to the country.

Born in London to Nigerian parents, Adarabioyo remains eligible to play for Nigeria through his heritage. Despite featuring for England at various youth levels, the centre-back has yet to make a senior appearance.

Speaking about his ties to Nigeria, Adarabioyo praised the nation’s rich culture and the Super Eagles’ performance at the last Africa Cup of Nations. He noted that a holiday in Nigeria last summer reinforced his sense of belonging.

“I played for England at youth level. I was born in London, but I remain attached to my country of origin, Nigeria. I spent my holidays there last summer. It’s a wonderful country with a multitude of cultures. I followed the Super Eagles at the last Africa Cup of Nations, and they are a fantastic team. I would be delighted to wear the Super Eagles jersey, but for now, I remain focused on my club goals,” he said.

The defender’s international future has been widely discussed. While he progressed through England’s youth system, a senior call-up never materialized. Now 28, Adarabioyo remains uncapped at the senior level, keeping the door open for a potential switch to Nigeria.
