Olasupo confirmed the summons through a post on his Facebook page on January 5. In his statement, he explained that he received an official letter from INTERPOL, requesting his presence at their headquarters at Shehu Shagari Way, Garki, Abuja, on December 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM, as part of an ongoing investigation.

The journalist mentioned that upon receiving the letter, his supervisor promptly contacted a lawyer, Barr. Yomi Ogunlola, who responded on his behalf. As a result, his appearance at INTERPOL’s office has been rescheduled to January 13, 2025.

In his post, Olasupo expressed confusion over the situation, raising questions about who reported him to INTERPOL, why INTERPOL is involved, and the nature of the allegations. He stated, “I am innocent of these accusations,” and shared his curiosity about why he had to report to the Abuja office instead of local police stations closer to his location.

He also criticized the lack of support for travel expenses, pointing out the high costs and risks involved in traveling to Abuja. Despite his concerns, Olasupo reassured his followers that the situation would not affect his commitment to his work and professionalism.

Olasupo further confirmed the development when contacted by ireporteronline saying, “Yes, it’s true.”
