Court Nullifies APC Governorship Primary (DETAILS)

APC

A Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has ruled that the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary held in the state on May 26, 2022, is invalid.

Senator Ita Enang, a former aide to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, filed a suit in court, claiming that the APC primary was marred by several irregularities.

Enang claimed in one of his claims that Akan Udofia was not a member of the APC in the state.

However, Udofia claimed that the APC had granted him a waiver, allowing him to run in the primary.

In a judgement on Monday, Justice Agatha Okeke cancelled the APC primary and ordered the party to conduct another primary within two weeks.

Justice Okeke also dismissed Udofia’s alleged waiver and ordered the party to hold another primary in a fortnight to determine the APC’s authentic governorship flag bearer in the state.

The Judge also ruled that Udofia, who claimed to have won the APC’s canceled primary election in the state, should not take part in the new party primary.

In response to the Judegment, Udofia assured his supporters that he would be on the ballot.
