The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday adjourned the ongoing trial of Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu ThankGod, popularly known as Eezee Tee, to September 26, 2025. Eezee Tee, a music promoter and former manager of gospel artist Mercy Chinwo, is facing trial alongside his company, Eezee Global Concepts Limited.

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke presided over the proceedings, which were shifted to his courtroom after originally being heard by Justice Owoeye. The defendants are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a seven-count amended charge involving foreign exchange malpractice and money laundering involving hundreds of thousands of dollars.

One of the key allegations is that ThankGod engaged in a foreign exchange transaction without the required authorization from the Central Bank of Nigeria, violating existing forex laws.

During the Friday session, EFCC prosecutor Bilkisu Buhari-Bala presented the first witness, Mohammed Timta. Defence counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), informed the court that both parties were in advanced stages of negotiation for a possible settlement and requested more time to conclude discussions.

Justice Aneke granted the request and scheduled the next hearing for September 26, 2025, noting that the trial would proceed if settlement efforts fail.
