A shocking security breach occurred at the Kano Government House in the early hours of Monday when an unidentified suspect reportedly broke into the premises and stole a Toyota Hilux van belonging to the convoy of the state’s deputy governor.

According to Ireporter Online, the daring incident took place around 5 a.m., when the intruder allegedly gained access through Gate 4 and drove out through the main gate without being stopped by on-duty security operatives.

Preliminary findings indicate that CCTV cameras captured the moment the suspect exited the compound with the vehicle. Security officials, led by the Chief Security Officer (CSO), are said to be thoroughly analyzing the footage in an effort to identify and trace the suspect’s escape route.

Insider sources disclosed that the driver of the stolen Hilux, identified as Shafiu Sharp-Sharp, has been questioned and briefly detained as part of ongoing investigations.

“The investigation is in full swing. The driver has been interrogated, while the CSO is reviewing the CCTV recordings. A detailed description of the vehicle has also been circulated to security agencies to facilitate its recovery and apprehend the suspect,” one of the sources revealed.

Another insider noted that the deputy governor’s office complex typically receives security patrols only during official hours or when the deputy governor is present, which may have contributed to the vulnerability of the area at the time of the theft.

As of the time of filing this report, efforts to obtain comments from Governor Abba Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, were unsuccessful, as calls and messages sent to his phone were not returned.
