Deadly Journey: Auto Crash Claims Driver, Injures 13 Students on Return to School

Thirteen students from Kwara State studying at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, have sustained injuries following a motor accident along the Yauri–Sokoto expressway in Kebbi State. According to reports made available by iReporter Online, the tragic incident occurred while the students were en route back to school.

The collision resulted in the death of the vehicle’s driver, while the injured students were immediately taken to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto. Eight of the victims reportedly suffered multiple bone fractures requiring surgical intervention, while the remaining five are undergoing various forms of medical treatment.

In response to the accident, Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has taken swift action by approving emergency medical funding. A total of ₦5,250,000 has been released to cover the costs of scans, diagnostic tests, surgical procedures, and all other listed treatments for the affected students.

The governor conveyed his sympathy and well-wishes to the students through his Special Assistant on Students Affairs, Wasiu Onidugbe, expressing hopes for their swift and complete recovery.

Sources indicate that the state government is closely monitoring the students’ treatment and ensuring they receive the best possible care.
