DJ Chelsea Reflects On Over Five Years Of Experience In The Music Industry

According to Ireporter Online, global DJ Chelsea has reflected on her journey in the music industry, describing it as a gradual but steady evolution driven by discipline, musical depth, and long-standing performance experience.

She noted that her connection to music predates her career as a DJ, explaining that DJing simply became her preferred form of expression. Known for her energetic performances and seamless blending of Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dancehall, Hip Hop, and R&B, she emphasized that her craft is guided by intention rather than trends.

“I don’t believe in playing one sound. People want to feel something when you’re playing it has to move,” she said.

Before gaining recognition on the global DJ circuit, DJ Chelsea reportedly spent over two decades as a classically trained pianist under the Royal Conservatory Program, a background she says continues to influence the structure and flow of her sets. Observers often describe her performances as carefully crafted experiences, noting that her transitions and pacing carry a deliberate, almost composed feel.

Her career trajectory has also seen her perform on major international stages, including opening for Burna Boy at the PNE Coliseum and Asake at Rogers Place in Edmonton, a 30,000-capacity venue. She has shared stages with prominent Afrobeats stars such as Adekunle Gold, Odumodublvck, Ayra Starr, and Ruger, further strengthening her position within the global Afrobeats ecosystem.

Currently serving as the international DJ for Mr P, DJ Chelsea has expanded her global footprint with performances across multiple countries, while maintaining a strong presence in Nigeria, where she continues to perform across various states.

Reflecting on her Nigerian audience, she said, “Nigeria is different. The crowd listens with their whole body. You have to be present when you’re playing there.”

Beyond music, she has also built a parallel career in acting spanning over a decade, with appearances in productions such as Snowpiercer, Motherland: Fort Salem, Supernatural, Supergirl, Nancy Drew, and Altered Carbon, as well as Hallmark projects like Picture a Perfect Christmas and If I Only Had Christmas. She described both careers as interconnected forms of performance.

“It’s all performance. Whether it’s acting or DJing, you’re still reading energy, still connecting with people,” she said.

DJ Chelsea added that her repeated return performances in Nigeria have been met with growing audience reception and demand, noting that each visit reflects increasing appreciation for her craft. Industry watchers say her presence in the Afrobeats space has continued to grow steadily, with her name increasingly mentioned among emerging global contributors to the genre.

“I’m just focused on the work. The rest follows,” she added.
