According to Ireporter Online, the Nollywood film Onobiren has officially concluded its cinema run on a high note after seven weeks, marking a landmark achievement in the 2026 box office landscape. The film grossed an impressive ₦138.1 million, cementing its place as one of the most successful cinematic releases of the year and a standout cultural production in Nigeria’s film industry.

From its opening week, the film quickly gained momentum, rising to the top of the West African box office for two consecutive weeks and securing the position of the highest-grossing release for March 2026. It also crossed the ₦100 million milestone within just three weeks, a performance widely regarded as one of the fastest box office climbs in recent Nollywood history.

Beyond its commercial success, Onobiren has set multiple industry benchmarks, emerging as the highest-grossing film centered on women, the highest-grossing South-South production, and the leading faith-based film in Nollywood. It also stands out as a major milestone for a non-actor producer, further highlighting its unique industry impact. The film’s strong reception is reinforced by a 9.1 IMDb rating, placing it among the top three Nollywood titles released in 2026.

Speaking on its success, executive producer and writer Laju Iren expressed appreciation for the widespread support, noting that the achievement was made possible through the combined efforts of audiences, industry stakeholders, critics, and partners. She emphasized that viewers across Nigeria and beyond played a key role in the film’s success, describing the journey as a collective milestone in Nollywood history. She further announced that Onobiren will continue its reach through virtual cinema screenings scheduled from May 1 to May 5, offering wider audiences the opportunity to experience the film.
