According to ireporteronline, the governors are in Delta to align their positions ahead of the NEC meeting.

Unity Tops the Agenda

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, hosted a dinner on Thursday in anticipation of the meeting. He emphasized that party unity would be a primary focus of discussions.

Governors from Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Plateau, Adamawa, Bayelsa, Osun, Taraba, and Zamfara have already arrived, while Oyo State’s Deputy Governor is representing Governor Seyi Makinde. Also present is the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum.

Governor Oborevwori underscored the importance of national unity, urging all party members to safeguard it.

Atiku Blamed for PDP Crisis

Meanwhile, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has attributed the PDP’s longstanding crisis to Atiku Abubakar’s political ambitions.

Speaking on ireporteronline, Olayinka claimed the turmoil began in 2003, when Atiku, then Vice President, allegedly undermined PDP’s efforts to win Lagos State. He further alleged that Atiku attempted to unseat President Olusegun Obasanjo, only securing a second-term ticket after intervention.

Olayinka also linked Atiku to the PDP’s 2015 presidential loss, claiming his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) significantly weakened the party.

The PDP meeting in Delta is expected to address these concerns and foster unity ahead of the upcoming NEC session.
