England Rocked As 8 Players Pull Out Of Camp

England’s preparations for their upcoming international friendly at Wembley Stadium have been significantly disrupted following the departure of eight players from camp after their 1-1 draw with Uruguay. According to Ireporter Online, the The Football Association confirmed that several key members of the squad have returned to their respective clubs due to injuries and fitness concerns.

Among those who have exited the camp are Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, and Noni Madueke, alongside John Stones. Additional departures include Aaron Ramsdale, Fikayo Tomori, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Rice and Saka, who did not feature in the Uruguay encounter, have returned for further medical checks, while Madueke sustained a knee injury during the match and was later seen leaving the stadium wearing a brace.

Further setbacks saw Adam Wharton withdraw after picking up a knock, with Stones also returning to Manchester City for assessment following an issue sustained in training. An official statement indicated that the players’ exits were precautionary, aimed at ensuring proper medical evaluation and recovery ahead of club commitments.

Despite the growing list of absentees, a number of players remain in camp, including Harry Kane, Anthony Gordon, Marc Guehi, and Ezri Konsa, as preparations continue for the clash against Japan.

Meanwhile, England manager Thomas Tuchel has cast doubt on Harry Maguire’s chances of securing a place in the World Cup squad, suggesting the defender currently ranks behind several alternatives in the centre-back hierarchy. Tuchel acknowledged Maguire’s strengths, describing him as composed, aerially dominant, and effective during set-pieces, but maintained that other defenders offer profiles better suited to his tactical approach.

He highlighted players such as Konsa and Guehi as preferred options, while also noting the mobility of Trevor Chalobah as a key advantage. Although John Stones remains part of the conversation, his recent injury concerns were also taken into account. Tuchel, however, did not completely rule out Maguire, adding that his physical presence could still prove valuable in high-stakes knockout fixtures.

The upcoming encounter with Japan represents England’s final international outing before Tuchel names his 26-man squad for the summer World Cup.
