“We didn’t endure the hardships you’re experiencing today,” he said. “My generation had dreams—ambitious ones—for Nigeria to emerge as a global leader, thanks to its vast human and natural resources. Unfortunately, those dreams have been derailed.”

Falana emphasized the responsibility of the youth to reclaim the nation and encouraged them to draw inspiration from legendary African musicians whose messages championed justice and societal change.

“Our country is not poor,” he added. “What we face is a poverty of ideas. Don’t accept the narrative that you are merely ‘leaders of tomorrow.’ You must assert yourselves as leaders of today and take ownership of the country’s future.”

The legal luminary concluded by urging young Nigerians to engage actively in national discourse and advocacy to ensure meaningful change.
