Family Confirms: Anthony Joshua Relocates To Dubai

According to industry sources, former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has relocated to Dubai, with a family member confirming that the move took place several months ago. Joshua’s uncle, Adedamola Joshua, disclosed in an interview that the British-Nigerian boxer quietly changed his base earlier this year.

He has already moved to Dubai. He doesn’t need to inform us before making such a move, but I know he has moved a while ago, talking of months back now,” Adedamola stated.

The relocation comes amid regional security concerns linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict, including reported attacks involving Iranian drones. Adedamola clarified that Joshua is not permanently residing in the emirate during these hostilities. “His staying there is on and off, and definitely, he won’t be there now,” he added.

Corporate filings connected to Joshua’s business ventures also reflect the move. Documents indicate that two of his companies, Sparta Promotions Limited and 258 Investments Limited, now list the United Arab Emirates as his country of residence. Dubai’s appeal for high-net-worth individuals is often attributed to the absence of income tax, with UK rules exempting those who spend fewer than 16 days in Britain from tax residency obligations.

Financial records suggest that Joshua would have faced UK taxes on dividends of £10.1 million in 2024 and £6.3 million in 2023. His company, Sparta Promotions, posted £20.4 million in profits and paid £6.65 million in UK tax in 2024.

Born in Watford to Nigerian parents, Joshua gained international recognition after winning gold at the 2012 London Olympics. Dubai has long been a frequent destination for him for both training and promotional events, including a 2017 sparring session atop the Burj Al Arab helipad.

Joshua’s move follows a personal tragedy in December 2025, when two close associates, personal trainer Kevin Ayodele and recovery therapist Sina Ghami, died in a car accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, shortly after Joshua defeated Jake Paul in Miami. Joshua sustained minor injuries and has been undergoing rehabilitation.

His promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed that the boxer is not yet ready for a full training camp but aims to return to the ring in July. Joshua has also expanded his property investments, recently acquiring a £1.2 million penthouse in Oman, reportedly as an investment rather than a permanent residence.
