Fatal Accident On Kara Bridge Claims One Life In Lagos

The incident occurred when the driver of an articulated truck, trying to avoid hitting a stationary 40-foot container, lost control of the vehicle. The truck overturned, spilling its load of steel coils across the roadway and significantly impeding traffic.

According to Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, emergency services were alerted at 4:26 a.m. via the 767/112 toll-free lines.

Oke-Osanyintolu stated, “Upon arrival, LASEMA’s Tiger Response Team found the truck, which was carrying several rolls of steel coils and a 40-foot container without its truck head, completely blocking all vehicular traffic.

“Preliminary investigations conducted by LASEMA indicated that the driver of the articulated truck lost control while in motion, resulting in the truck tipping over and spilling its cargo. Unfortunately, the driver suffered fatal injuries from the incident. His body was removed prior to the emergency responders’ arrival.

“Our Response Team implemented necessary safety protocols, including traffic management and road diversions. Recovery efforts were coordinated with other emergency services to clear the debris and restore normal traffic flow.
