Federal Projects Underway—Oyebanji Defends Road Conditions, Praises Tinubu
According to iReporter Online, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has urged citizens to show patience as both state and federal authorities take steps to address the poor condition of federal roads across the state. Speaking at a public event in Ado-Ekiti, the governor acknowledged public outcry over road infrastructure but assured residents that meaningful progress is underway.
Governor Oyebanji disclosed that the Federal Government had commenced intervention on three of the six federal roads within Ekiti, while the state government had already undertaken repairs on one. He attributed the progress to ongoing collaboration with the federal authorities and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his consistent support and responsiveness to the state’s infrastructure challenges.
The statement, released by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, highlighted that Oyebanji spoke at a ceremony marking the 40th anniversary of Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello as the Chief Imam of Ado Ekiti. The governor emphasized that the Ado–Ikere–Akure road is nearing completion, while work is expected to commence soon on two remaining road projects.
Governor Oyebanji further addressed the development of the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Airport, noting that it had recently received provisional approval for non-scheduled flights and is awaiting full clearance for commercial operations. He described the airport as a long-term strategic project conceived through consensus among Ekiti leaders to enhance economic connectivity.
During the event, the governor praised Sheikh Kewulere Bello for four decades of spiritual leadership and community service. Describing him as a “dedicated ambassador of peace,” Oyebanji prayed for the cleric’s continued strength and well-being.
He also extended gratitude to Ekiti’s Muslim community for their loyalty and support, while appreciating the Christian Association of Nigeria’s state chairman, Rev. Emmanuel Aribasoye, for his presence at the event. He applauded the interfaith unity displayed at the ceremony and encouraged continued harmony among religious groups in the state.
