FG Reaffirms Commitment To Combating Post-Harvest Losses Through Innovation

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to supporting the adoption of modern innovations aimed at reducing post-harvest losses among farmers nationwide, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The facility, developed by Prism Foods Ltd. in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area and situated at Gadar Tamburawa, is valued at over ₦10 billion. It is specifically designed to address the persistent challenge of post-harvest losses experienced by onion farmers in the region.

Describing the facility as a pioneering development on the African continent, Enoh expressed his satisfaction with the initiative and lauded Prism Foods Ltd. for its substantial investment in agricultural innovation.

He noted that such infrastructure is critical not only to enhancing food preservation but also to strengthening food security, promoting entrepreneurship, and stimulating economic growth.

The Minister emphasized that the introduction of modern storage facilities will help create employment opportunities, extend the shelf life of perishable produce, and contribute significantly to national food stability.
