In her tribute, Mariya fondly remembered her husband’s commitment as a father. Despite the demanding nature of his military career, Lagbaja always made time to engage with their children, offering guidance and affection whenever possible.

Reflecting on their journey together, Mariya shared that their love story began on December 29, 2007, a day that marked the beginning of a lifetime of shared moments. “Meeting you over 17 years ago left an indelible mark on my life. Our friendship endured, and we created a bond that was meant to last forever. Even though that journey was cut short, I treasure every moment we shared,” she said.

She also spoke of how death interrupted their lifelong love story. “On that day, we chose each other to walk through life together, but death has taken the man who loved and cherished me with all his heart.”

Mariya went on to describe her husband’s nurturing role in their lives, recounting how he provided her with constant strength and support. “You carried me when no one was looking, wiped my tears when I couldn’t hold them back, and gave me the strength to face the world,” she reflected. “In a world full of ordinary moments, you created extraordinary joy for me. I will love you forever, and my heart will always hold on to the memories we made together.”

She also promised to cherish their shared moments and carry them in her heart throughout her life. “Your love and support were my guiding force, and if only you could hear me now, know that I love you endlessly.”

Mariya described Lagbaja as the spiritual anchor of their home, adding that he instilled in her and their children a love for God. “As the spiritual leader of our family, you taught us to love Jesus and serve Him with all our hearts. You sang and danced with joy in God’s presence, and that brings me comfort, knowing you’re now doing the same in heaven,” she said.

Despite his busy career, Mariya praised her husband for being a devoted father. “Even though your job often took you away, you always made time for Emmanuel and Dara. You were their hero, and your legacy lives on through them. They will make you proud.”

Mariya also reflected on her husband’s final days, noting that he fought bravely until the end. “On November 5th, I saw you lying there, knowing you had fought the good fight. Though you are gone, you will be deeply missed by all who knew you, especially me and our children. You will always remain in our hearts.”

As she looked back on the little things they shared, Mariya poignantly asked, “Who will ask me, ‘What’s the latest?’ Who will call me ‘The Boss’? Who will give me that morning hug before work? I will miss you deeply, my Jump Master, my friend, my husband, and my hero. Sleep on, Daddy, till we meet again.”
