Friends Colleagues  And Associates Gather To Celebrate The Professorial Elevation Of Ighodaro Igbe

Benin City: Friends, colleagues and associates of Professor  Ighodaro Igbe would today Sunday, 25th of April 2021 gather in celebration of the professorial elevation of the distinguished pharmacist and cerebral scholar.

The event which is to be held at the prestigious Uyi Grand International Event Centre has its theme ” Building Cultural Renaissance For Universities ” and would be chaired by the distinguished and celebrated Dr Osahon Enabulele the President of Commonwealth Medical Association.

The former Vice-Chancellor, UNIMED Ondo State, Professor Friday Okonofua would deliver a guest lecture.

The youthful professor has a lot of achievements to his professional attainment.

Prof Ighodaro Igbe attended Ebenezer Primary School, GRA, Benin city and the prestigious University of Benin  Demonstration Secondary School (UDSS), Ugbowo, Benin city. He later got admission to the University of Benin where he received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (1995 – 2000) and finished as the best graduating student in the Faculty.

Prof Ighodaro Igbe is a Professor of Pharmacology in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Benin, Nigeria. He is currently on sabbatical leave at Igbinedion University, Okada and presently the Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University.

Prof Igbe rose through academic and administrative ranks to the position of a Full Professor in 2019. Although his Professorship was announced in February 2021, it was backdated to October 1st 2019.

His research is focused on Toxicology, Molecular biology and Ethnopharmacology. He has published over 60 publications in peer-reviewed and high impact indexed journals and contributed chapters to books. Prof Igbe is currently the Press Editor of the West African Journal of Pharmacology and Drug Research; the Assistant Editor of the Journal of African Association of Physiological Sciences (JAAPS) and a member of the Editorial Board of Tropical Journal of Natural Product Research (TJNPR).
