Fubara made these remarks during the inauguration of Okocha Road and Spurs in the Rumuolumeni Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, on Tuesday.

In his speech, Fubara stressed that the true essence of politics lies in meeting the needs of citizens, not just aligning with political allies or opponents. He pointed out that the government’s role is to improve the lives of the people it serves.

“Politics isn’t just about who stands with you or against you. It’s about responding to the real needs of the people,” Fubara stated. “If I were driven by selfish motives, I would have ignored this area due to its challenges. But it’s our responsibility to deliver services, protect lives, and make our people’s lives better.”

Explaining the context behind the project, Fubara noted the importance of easing concerns among supporters following the 2023 Presidential Election, which played a key role in ensuring a favorable environment for his governorship bid. “We worked hard to create a comfortable setting for our election. This community, made up mainly of non-indigenes with strong voting power, supported us and helped push our cause forward,” he explained.

The governor expressed gratitude to the community, saying, “What I’m doing here today is a simple ‘thank you’ for believing in us and standing by us.”

Fubara also reassured the community that his administration would continue to address their needs, including the rehabilitation of other deteriorating streets to improve accessibility and mobility.
