Fubara’s Impeachment Won’t Happen’ – Rivers Governor’s Aide Speaks

According to Ireporter Online, Darlington Orji, Special Adviser to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed the ongoing impeachment move against the governor, describing it as baseless.

Orji made the statement during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show, explaining that the impeachment process is unlikely to succeed due to a lack of substantive evidence. He emphasized that only the State House of Assembly has the authority to determine allegations of misconduct or financial misappropriation.

“I can tell you for free that this process will not scale through because there is no truth in it,” Orji said. “It is only the House that can interpret when there is misappropriation or gross misconduct.”

He further noted that numerous previous impeachment attempts in the country have failed because proper procedures were not followed. Drawing on his personal interactions with members of the Assembly, Orji expressed confidence that the ongoing process will be resolved swiftly.

“For us, I’m not a member of the House, but I can tell you because I’m on the ground and have reached out to many of them. Many are my friends, and we have always worked together. They are not happy with what is happening, and I am sure that before the end of the week, this process will be completely put to rest,” he added.
