FULL LIST Emerge As Wike Revokes Lands Belonging To Peter Obi, Imoke, BUA, 162 Others In Abuja
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared the nullification of the certificate of occupancy for 165 plots in Abuja.
This action was taken as the owners failed to develop the land. Among the affected plots are those owned by notable individuals including Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate in the 2023 election, Liyel Imoke, a former Cross River State governor, and Udo Udoma, a former Minister of National Planning, among others.
Additionally, corporate entities like BUA, Julius Berger Nigeria, and Honeywell Construction Limited also had their allocations revoked.
The affected plots are situated in prominent districts of Abuja such as Maitama, Gudu, Wuye, Katampe Extension, Wuse 2, Jabi, Utako, Idu Industrial zone, and Asokoro. This revocation was carried out in accordance with section 28(5)(a) & (b) of the Land Use Act 1978 due to the persistent breach of development terms.
Minister Wike, who recently assumed office, has consistently expressed his determination to rectify issues within the Abuja Masterplan. This includes the recent demolition of illegal structures, markets, and parks in the territory.
