Award-winning actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has once again rewritten Nollywood box office history as her latest movie, Behind The Scenes, grossed an impressive ₦512 million within its first week in cinemas.

According to industry reports, the remarkable performance makes Behind The Scenes the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2025 so far, achieving the milestone in record time and reinforcing Akindele’s reputation as one of the industry’s most bankable creatives.

The film’s distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, disclosed that the production shattered five opening-week records, becoming the first Nollywood title this year to cross the ₦500 million threshold within such a short period. Cinema attendance across major locations in Nigeria and other parts of West Africa was described as overwhelming, reflecting the film’s wide appeal and strong audience reception.

In a celebratory message shared by the distribution team, the success was attributed to massive audience support, with the film also emerging as the number-one title of the weekend and the fastest Nollywood movie to reach the ₦500 million mark. The buzz surrounding the movie was heightened by its advanced screenings held on December 10 and 11, which generated strong anticipation ahead of its nationwide release on December 12. Since its debut, the film has continued to draw large crowds to cinemas nationwide.
