Ghana Celebrates: Tinubu Joins Mahama’s Big Day

The President departed from the Presidential wing of Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, around 4:20 PM and landed at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, where he was welcomed by Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debra, at approximately 4:05 PM local time.

During his visit to Ghana, President Tinubu, who serves as the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, will join fellow African leaders for Mahama’s swearing-in ceremony, alongside his Vice President-elect, Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

Tinubu’s trip follows an invitation from the president-elect, who had made a visit to the Nigerian leader in December 2024. Mahama and Tinubu share a long-standing personal friendship, reflective of the enduring bilateral ties between Nigeria and Ghana.

Accompanying President Tinubu on the journey are Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, and other senior government officials.
