An Israeli airstrike has reportedly killed at least 53 people after striking an elementary girls’ school in Minab, a city in southern Iran, according to Ireporter Online. The attack, which occurred on Saturday in Hormozgan province, also left 63 others injured as rescue teams continued searching through the rubble. Authorities confirmed that emergency responders were clearing debris late into the day, while images released by officials showed damaged school buildings and rescue personnel at the scene.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, condemned the strike on X, describing it as an assault on “innocent children” and vowing that “these crimes against the Iranian People will not go unanswered.”

The strike comes amid a broader escalation of military actions involving Israel and the United States in Iran, raising fears of a wider regional conflict. Israeli authorities have yet to release a detailed statement regarding the specific attack in Minab.

Russia strongly criticised the airstrikes in a statement issued on Saturday, calling them a “deliberate, premeditated, and unprovoked act of armed aggression” against a sovereign state. Moscow accused Washington and Tel Aviv of violating international law and fundamental global norms, particularly given that the attacks occurred during ongoing diplomatic efforts over Iran’s nuclear programme.

The Kremlin also expressed concern over reports of strikes targeting nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards, warning that escalating tensions could trigger a “humanitarian, economic, and potentially even radiological disaster.” Russia called for an immediate return to political and diplomatic channels, reaffirming its readiness to support peaceful solutions grounded in international law.
