In the friendly encounter against the Abu Dhabi team, coach Jose Peseiro fielded his first-choice goalkeeper Uzoho, with Zaidu, Aina, Awaziem, and Bassey forming the defense. The midfield comprised Aribo, Onyeka, and Lookman, while Musa, Umar, and Osimhen led the attack.

The warm-up game concluded with an impressive 12-0 victory for the Super Eagles, marking a significant achievement as Uzoho, often considered a weak link in the team, kept a clean sheet for the first time in four competitive games.

During the match, Ademola Lookman netted four goals, Victor Osimhen scored two, Moses Simon contributed two, Ahmed Musa secured one, and Umar Sadiq added another goal. Additionally, two goals were conceded through own goals, setting a positive tone for the Super Eagles ahead of the 2023 AFCON.

Before their departure to Lagos on January 9, the team is scheduled to face Guinea in another AFCON warm-up match in Abu Dhabi at 1 p.m. today, January 8.

It’s important to note that the Super Eagles will kick off their AFCON campaign on January 14 against Equatorial Guinea, followed by a match against Ivory Coast on January 18. Their final Group A fixture is against Guinea-Bissau.
