Gov. Alia: ‘No Emperor Has The Power To Decide Elections For Benue People’ – Akume

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has asserted that no individual or authority has the right to determine his political future or that of the residents of Benue ahead of the 2027 governorship election. According to Ireporter Online, Alia’s statement, issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, was in response to remarks made by Senator Titus Zam, who suggested that the people of the state would follow the guidance of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, in deciding the outcome of the polls.

Governor Alia emphasised that his eligibility for a second term would be determined solely by his track record, credibility, and performance in office. He expressed confidence that the electorate would evaluate his contributions independently of external influences. “What will determine direction for the 2027 general elections in Benue is purely performance and pedigree,” the governor stated. He added that those who failed to deliver on their mandate or prioritized loyalty to political “emperors” over service to the people would face judgment at the polls.

Alia concluded that the ultimate decision rests with the electorate, not any individual political figure. “No emperor can decide any election for the people. I am diligently keeping my covenant with the people, and they are well aware of developments to pass their verdict,” he said.
