According to Ireporter Online, Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has issued a strong warning to former governor and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, amid rising political tension in the state.

The governor, while addressing a gathering in Kano, cautioned his former political mentor against making remarks he described as disrespectful, stressing that he would not hesitate to respond if provoked further.

Yusuf’s remarks come in reaction to recent comments credited to Kwankwaso during a media interview, where the former presidential candidate accused him of political betrayal and expressed confidence in defeating him in the 2027 governorship election. Kwankwaso had also voiced disappointment over what he termed a breach of trust by Yusuf and other former allies, adding that some individuals who benefited from his political structure later turned against it.

Responding, Governor Yusuf questioned the tone of the criticism directed at him, insisting he had exercised restraint out of respect for his elder. He warned that continued verbal attacks could compel him to reveal details that would be unpalatable to his opponent, while emphasizing that his priority remains peace and stability in Kano State.
