Governor Otu Showers Miracle Usani With ₦50m, Land, And Sports Ambassador Role

According to Ireporter Online, the spirit of celebration continues for Super Falcons defender, Miracle Usani, as Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has honoured the football star with ₦50 million, a plot of land in Calabar, and an appointment as the state’s Sports Ambassador.

The event, held at the Governor’s Office in Calabar, was marked by excitement and admiration as Governor Otu described the Yakurr-born player as a symbol of pride and inspiration to both the state and the nation.

“We have a dedicated Commissioner for Sports who is working tirelessly. Although our sports system faces some structural challenges, stories like yours rekindle our belief that the future of sports in Cross River is bright,” he stated.

While presenting the rewards, Otu declared, “You have earned ₦50 million and a plot of land in Calabar. You are now officially on our VVIP protocol list and will represent Cross River as our Sports Ambassador at official events.”

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Usani, who currently plays for Edo Queens F.C., expressed deep appreciation to the governor and the people of Cross River State for the recognition. She shared her struggles and triumphs, recalling how societal stereotypes almost discouraged her from pursuing her football dreams.

“My journey wasn’t easy. Growing up, people said girls who play football won’t find husbands or remain feminine. Since there was no female team in my area, I had to play with boys. But I never gave up, and today I’m proud to represent Nigeria and Cross River on the world stage,” she said.
