Breaking: Acting IGP Disu Redeploys ACP Bukola Kuti To NIPSS – Shake-Up In Police Ranks

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has redeployed ACP Bukola Yemisi Kuti from her position as Principal Staff Officer 2 (PSO2) to former Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, assigning her to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State.

According to multiple senior police sources, the redeployment took effect immediately, prompting discussions within the Nigeria Police Force. A senior source noted that the move is part of broader administrative adjustments following the recent change in leadership at Force Headquarters.

“The Acting IGP has removed ACP Bukola Kuti as PSO2 to the former IGP and reassigned her to NIPSS in Kuru,” the source said.

The PSO2 role is considered highly sensitive, involving close coordination with the Inspector-General and oversight of critical operational and administrative matters. ACP Kuti’s tenure in the position had previously attracted public attention, with some critics questioning the rapid pace of her career progression and the transparency of promotion processes within the Force.

Sources indicated that her close working relationship with the former IGP had been the subject of debate both inside and outside the Force. While some officers viewed her redeployment as a routine administrative decision, others interpreted it as a strategic measure aimed at stabilising internal dynamics after the leadership transition.

The development occurs amid ongoing controversies linked to a lawsuit involving media platform SaharaReporters and activist Omoyele Sowore. The case reportedly arose from comments describing Egbetokun as an “illegal IGP” and allegations concerning funds allegedly paid to Victor Adewale Egbetokun from the Anambra State government’s security vote account, which the state government has denied.

Insiders have also voiced concerns about perceived irregularities in promotions, suggesting that some longer-serving officers feel overlooked. ACP Kuti, who joined the Nigeria Police Force in 2012, is among officers reportedly under consideration for elevation to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), a prospect that has sparked debate within police circles over the criteria guiding her proposed advancement.
