Gunmen Attack Benue Links Bus, Kill Driver, Abduct Passengers in Otukpo
A horrifying incident occurred in Ikobi, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, on Thursday night when armed gunmen ambushed a Benue Links bus. The attackers shot the driver dead and then abducted all the passengers, taking them into the bush. However, a toddler was reportedly left behind at the scene.
Security agencies have been informed, but there has been no official statement from the authorities yet. Efforts to locate the victims are ongoing.
In response, Mike Magaji, president of the Ochetoha K’Idoma youth wing, expressed frustration at the government’s failure to address the growing insecurity in the region, criticizing the ineffectiveness of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s recent visit to Otukpo. He called for decisive action to put an end to the frequent attacks.
