Heart-Wrenching Confession: Adanma Luke Opens Up About Suicidal Thoughts Following Junior Pope’s Death

Adanma Luke, the producer of the film in which the late Nollywood actor Junior Pope was set to star, has bravely shared her personal journey through profound emotional turmoil following his untimely passing.

On April 10, 2024, Junior Pope tragically lost his life in a boat accident on the River Niger, Asaba, along with four other crew members, leaving the film industry in shock.

In a candid Instagram post, Adanma disclosed the depth of her depression, revealing the overwhelming thoughts of suicide that clouded her mind after the loss. She described this period as “very dark,” worsened by harsh criticism on social media, which further compounded her grief.

The emotional toll was so intense that she even stopped breastfeeding her three-month-old baby, adding more strain to an already devastating time.

Despite these challenges, Adanma found solace in the unwavering support of movie producer Uche Nancy. She recalled reaching out to Uche during her lowest moments, and the compassionate words of reassurance she received provided her with strength.

Adanma wrote, “With so much tears, I reached out to @uchenancy after all the pressure and expenses in April. She told me, ‘Ada, don’t worry, I’m here for you. Just let me know if there’s more to do.’ She shared reasons why I should stay strong and live on, and though I was contemplating suicide at the time, her words lifted my soul.”

The impact of social media was undeniable, with hurtful comments intensifying her pain. She revealed that her mother took the baby away to protect her child from the sadness she was experiencing.

“My phone was my closest companion then, but also a source of pain due to the hurtful comments,” Adanma confessed. “My mom took the baby away so I wouldn’t breastfeed with sadness. I used to cry online, but I felt some relief from the kindness of my friends and fans.”

Through it all, Adanma expressed immense gratitude for Uche Nancy’s constant support and care, thanking her for being both a financial and emotional lifeline during the darkest time of her life.

In closing, she praised Uche for her selflessness and tireless dedication, saying, “Uche, may God bless you abundantly for your love and kindness. I can’t end my 2024 without showing appreciation for everything you’ve done.”
