In a post shared on his X account, Obi confirmed the visit, which followed his meeting with Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi. The Labour Party leader shared that his discussions with Babangida covered important national matters.

Obi expressed his deep appreciation for Babangida’s advice, stating, “After my time in Jigawa, I made my way to Minna to visit General Babangida, a true father figure and elder statesman. It was a special opportunity to wish him a Happy New Year and exchange thoughts on our nation’s future.”
