Heartbreaking: Renowned Nigerian Senator Dies In Abuja – Family in Mourning

Jonathan Zwingina, a former federal lawmaker and Senate Majority Leader, has reportedly died at the age of 70. According to sources obtained by Naija News on Thursday, Zwingina, who also led the campaign for MKO Abiola during the June 12, 1993, presidential election, passed away in Abuja on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

While his family has yet to officially confirm the news, Leadership Newspaper reports that the former senator, who hailed from Adamawa State, passed away quietly. Zwingina served as a Senator representing Adamawa South and was originally a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before later switching to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a related development, tragedy struck in Kebbi State as armed assailants abducted and fatally shot Alhaji Bako Bala, the APC Chairman of Suru Local Government Area. Bala was kidnapped in his hometown and later died from his injuries despite being rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi.
