Senator Lawan Denies Media Allegations, Reaffirms Strong Support For Tinubu
Former President of the 9th Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has firmly refuted recent media reports claiming he does not fully support President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Lawan, representing Yobe North Senatorial District, addressed these false allegations attributed to the online platform “Nasarawa Reporters.”
The controversial report falsely quoted Lawan as saying, “Nobody is criticizing Tinubu because he is Yoruba; we all know his policies caused hunger and unbearable hardships.”
In a statement issued by Dr. Ezrel Tabiowo, Media Adviser to Senator Ahmad Lawan, and made available to Ireporteronlinein Abuja, Lawan clarified that the report was untrue, deeply insensitive, and divisive.
“The false report is a deliberate attempt to sow seeds of disunity amongst Nigerians. It is a clear fabrication designed by mischief makers to incite ethnic tensions and create political instability,” Lawan stated.
He emphasized that the malicious report is a product of those seeking to stoke ethnic divisions and undermine national harmony. He reiterated his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and its efforts towards progress and unity for all Nigerians.
“We strongly condemn the recent wave of fake news and misinformation on various online social platforms aimed at creating confusion and undermining the confidence of Nigerians in the President Tinubu-led government,” Lawan said.
The statement highlighted Lawan’s recognition and appreciation of the administration’s efforts to tackle numerous issues facing the country. He commended President Tinubu and his team for their vision and the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda for a better Nigeria.
Senator Lawan reiterated his firm support for President Tinubu, whom he vigorously campaigned for ahead of the 2023 General Elections. He remains dedicated to collaborating with the administration for the nation’s progress and prosperity.
Lawan called on Nigerians to be vigilant and responsible in their consumption of information, urging the public to rely on credible sources and reject fake news intended to mislead and divide. He also sternly warned those spreading malicious fabrications to desist from such irresponsible behavior, stating that legal action would be pursued without hesitation.
“We urge the media and the general public to disregard this false and misleading report,” Lawan concluded.
