Hotel Murder In Delta: Lodger Killed At Owheologbo Hotel
The disturbing details surrounding the murder of Mr. Sunday Ogofotha, a guest at Century Home Hotel in Owheologbo, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, have begun to emerge. The crime occurred while Ogofotha was attending a funeral, and the Delta State Police Command has apprehended four individuals in connection with the murder.
According to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, Ogofotha had contacted his wife to inform her that he had checked into the hotel. However, when she later failed to reach him, she became concerned and reached out to his relatives. Upon inquiry, the hotel manager initially denied knowledge of Ogofotha’s stay. It was only after the manager’s arrest that he confessed to facilitating the crime after two suspects offered him ₦5 million in exchange for access to the victim.…READ MORE…
Hotel manager, Godwin Ogheneochuko Iboyirode, admitted to knowing the suspects and outlined his involvement. He stated that on March 21, 2025, two young men approached him, claiming they needed to meet Ogofotha to retrieve something from him. They promised him ₦5 million if successful. Later that evening, Iboyirode discovered that Ogofotha’s room was locked from the outside, and one of the suspects, Clement, had exited through the back door. By the next day, Iboyirode noticed a foul smell coming from the locked room but did not inform anyone, instead fleeing to a woman’s house for the night. The following day, he was attacked by vigilantes and community youths after the crime was reported.
Iboyirode also revealed prior dealings with the suspects, stating that he had met them in December 2024, when they had brought a girl to the hotel. He further confirmed the involvement of the suspects in the killing of the missing girl and the discovery of a POS machine linked to the incident.
SP Edafe confirmed that the manager and two other suspects had been arrested, and the police are still investigating the crime. The manager and the suspects allegedly stabbed Ogofotha multiple times, leading to his death. Fortunately, Ogofotha had informed his wife of his whereabouts, which aided in tracing the crime.
In response to the incident, enraged youths set the hotel on fire after learning that the police had cleared the hotel owner, Chief Joshua Oghoole, of any involvement. Isoko North Local Government Chairman, Elder Godwin Ogorugba, led a team to seal the hotel. Investigations into the murders at the hotel and the arson attack are ongoing.
