“I Have No Problem With The Presidential Candidate” – Wike Gives Condition To Support PDP

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has insisted that he has no personal issues with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.

The Governor, who issued a new declaration on Tuesday, stated that he is only fighting for the interests of his people in Rivers State, the South-South region, and the entire southern region. The announcement comes just days after Atiku revealed that he has personally visited Wike five times and is waiting for the Rivers Governor’s advice on how to resolve the PDP crisis.

Wike insisted that the only condition for him to support the PDP candidate in the 2023 presidential election is for Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s chairman, to step down and be replaced by a southerner.  He stated this during a visit by his political associates and Rivers elders led by the Chairman of the Rivers Elders Council (REC), Chief Ferdinand Alabraba.

According to a statement issued by the Governor’s media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, Wike stated, “I have no problem with presidential candidate.” All I’m saying is, what is in the best interests of the people of Rivers? What is the Southsouth and South’s interest?”.

Wike said he never regretted contesting the primaries.
