According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has addressed criticism following the resurfacing of her old social media posts concerning children.

The posts, originally shared on March 14, 2012, mentioned a four-year-old boy named David and described moments of affection he showed towards Simi. In the now-deleted tweets, she recounted the child resting his head near her and expressed uncertainty about how to respond to his attention.

The tweets quickly went viral, prompting concern from social media users who questioned the appropriateness of the content and called for scrutiny of her past posts.

In her response, Simi clarified that she was not a public figure at the time and that the posts reflected her experiences helping at her mother’s daycare. She emphasized that the tweets were intended to portray the innocence and playfulness of children, and were never meant to convey inappropriate intentions.

Simi added that while the posts could be interpreted in various ways, they did not stem from any form of misconduct. She further explained that her social media account previously served as an outlet to share her daily life, including playful interactions with children, alongside her budding music career.

Several of the tweets have since been deleted by her team to safeguard her family’s privacy. Simi reiterated that she had no reason to excuse her past words but wished to clarify that they were being misrepresented online.
