I’m So Underrated!” – Dremo Opens Up About Struggling For Recognition

Nigerian rapper Dremo has opened up about feeling overlooked in the music industry, highlighting the challenges he faces in gaining recognition for his talent. According to Ireporter Online, the artiste, in an interview on Echo Room, expressed frustration over not receiving the acknowledgment he believes he deserves despite his skills in the studio.

Dremo explained that he has come to accept being seen as an underdog, though he maintains that his abilities surpass the attention he receives. He attributed part of the issue to the nature of his music, noting that rap does not attract as much interest from Nigerian audiences compared to more commercially popular genres like Afrobeats and pop.

The rapper also reflected on his time with Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), where he was previously signed. He described the experience as falling short of his expectations, citing a lack of focus and support for other artists besides the label’s founder, Davido.

“I feel like I am so underrated. People don’t know what I can do in the studio. But it is okay, I like the underdog story. Even DMW as a whole didn’t collaborate much, we never had a record label album. The management focused only on Davido. The label didn’t give me money. It was like a platform. I didn’t get what I wanted from the label,” Dremo stated.
