Incapable Wanderer’ – Onanuga Blasts Peter Obi

According to Ireporter Online, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has criticized former presidential candidate Peter Obi, describing him as largely inconsequential in the upcoming 2027 elections. Onanuga took to his account on Monday to condemn Obi for frequently attacking President Tinubu and his administration’s policies online, asserting that opposition figures have made the president their “favourite whipping boy.”

Onanuga insisted that President Tinubu has no involvement in Obi’s departure from the Labour Party or the challenges facing his new party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He accused Obi of failing to show leadership in resolving the Labour Party’s crisis and of not taking steps to transform the Obidient Movement into a political party.

The presidential aide added that even if Obi were to secure a presidential candidacy in 2027, he would be unable to replicate his 2023 performance against President Tinubu. Onanuga described Obi as “incapable of building an organic political party” and accused him of moving opportunistically to the ADC, a party acquired by Atiku Abubakar from Ralph Nwosu, without adequate preparation.

He emphasized that the ADC’s current difficulties are self-inflicted and unrelated to President Tinubu, urging Obi and his allies to resolve internal party issues before seeking the presidency again. Onanuga concluded by asserting that the former Anambra State Governor’s attacks on Tinubu are an unfair attempt to undermine the president’s democratic credentials.
