Insecurity and 2023 – UEP

If you are safe in this country, you are the president or maybe a governor, the latter isn’t very sure in some states. To be safe again, you are a senator or a member of the house of reps at the federal level as the state level reps are still prone. Safety may be assured for billionaires and millionaires if they have strong political affiliations otherwise we are all on our own.

The safety the ruling class enjoy in Nigeria can’t be explained in words enough to make sense as much as it is been seen by the poor masses in the lifestyle of those ruling every other day. They are secured financially, they are shielded from justice, an evil form of security and still move around with half of the security men we own as a nation. This apparent security they enjoy would someday be overshadowed by the high level of insecurity in the country at large. We already heard stories of Governors been attacked, Prof. Zullum is a testimony and more recently Gov. Ortom was a target also, an Ex president home been attacked, GEJ was twinned in that, House of Representatives members having their territory invaded by this virus of insecurity.

The large degree of insecurity has made many think Nigeria is about to disintegrate into God knows how many parts, though as a patriotic Nigerian I don’t believe this country can afford to split. The east has IPOB breathing hard on that dream, Oduduwa coward-icing in the west with an unachievable thought, the majority of the south just watching, my state Edo would have to be a country on her own if that unachievable dream is to work, then the all mighty North having unknown problems that in turn gives more problem to the nation at large. Nigeria’s strength and relevance lies in her size and her people, if that is lost, what you would have is a group of unrealistic non-independent territories adding more backwardness to the entire continent Africa.

That been said and with just a few months away from the general election of 2023, what are the odds we are gone be safer under a new president. What are the odds that the elections would hold at all? GEJ’s period as the leader of this country experienced less insecurity compared to now under this present Buhari’s government so I can safely assume the country would even be more insecure under the next president, if the present insecurity allows the 2023 General Elections happens at all. The reason for my assumptions are personal and from an analytical point of view. Power came to the south and there was great insecurity across the country, it was so bad that the present president lead a protest against the then government calling for a resignation of the then president. A few years later, power goes to the north and the insecurity is greater than it ever was. The president looks incapable of doing anything against a group of evil men whose agenda is unrealistic, rumor has it the president is one of these evil men by tribe and by beliefs, whatever the case may be, what is certain is, never in history as a people endured so much atrocities without a drastic change of course or system been the end result, so Nigeria is on the course of getting better.

Insecurity is the most relevant topic in Nigeria right now and it is a collective effort that is needed if this ever is to come to an end. As 2023 draws near, the future of our nation is more relevant than ever and no name, group, tribe, cabal or organisation is greater than the will of a nation as great and strong as Nigeria. Whatever it may be or it is, Meyetti Allah, IPOB, Oduduwa Nation, Niger Delta, Boko Haram, Amotekun, ISWAP, Herdsmen, whatever group that thinks it is doing the right thing should be conscious of the people in general, of the growth in our democracy, of the furious future and the blurry past, of the leaders of tomorrow and the said heroes of the past, of the patriotic consciousness that makes many believe tomorrow would be better such that in whatever they do, they should know that our history is now written in a different ink.
