These young fraudsters, particularly those engaged in the more advanced form known as Yahoo Plus, have shared the shocking lengths they go to in order to achieve financial success.

According to the article, the allure of opulent lifestyles in their communities is a significant motivator for these individuals to partake in these illicit activities. A group of friends who practice Yahoo Plus provided a detailed account of their journey into the world of fraud.

One of the friends recounted their initiation into Yahoo Plus, describing how they sought the guidance of a local shrine in Ogun State. “We knew of a young guy into Yahoo Plus who took us to meet a Baba. The Baba, aware of our intentions, sold us a special black soap and a ring. We were instructed to bathe with the soap at 1:00 a.m. every night for seven days and to wear the ring while chatting with clients. Since then, our fortunes changed dramatically, and we’ve been making substantial money,” he explained. They now visit the Baba monthly to renew their ring, a key element in their continued success.

Another Yahoo Plus practitioner detailed a similar initiation process in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. After consulting a native doctor, he and his friend were given a series of instructions, including rituals and sacrifices. “The herbalist performed incantations and provided us with items to eat and drink. He also mentioned that sacrifices were necessary. We followed his instructions, including performing a blood ritual with two chickens and kolanuts,” he said. They perform these rituals every two months to maintain their success.

The rise of Yahoo Plus has seen a troubling increase in the number of youths, including school-age boys and girls, engaging in these fraudulent practices. The practice, characterized by its use of ritualistic elements and superstitions, underscores a darker side of the quest for financial gain among Nigeria’s youth.
