IPOB Urges Vigilance Amid Ethnic Tensions Following Killing Of 16 In Edo

In an official statement released by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the organization cautioned against retaliatory actions targeting the Igbo in the North. IPOB asserted that recent threats and incidents aimed at the Igbo community are rooted in long-standing ethnic conflicts within the country.

Additionally, IPOB urged indigenous Northern communities, particularly the Hausa people, to exercise caution and avoid being drawn into conflicts that could destabilize the region. The group stressed that ethnic violence serves no beneficial purpose and encouraged Nigerians to reject attempts to incite conflict.

IPOB also reiterated the need for increased security awareness among the Igbo living in Northern Nigeria and the South-East region. The group reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Igbo lives and property while continuing to advocate for the peaceful dismantling of Nigeria’s colonial-era structure.

Concluding its statement, IPOB called for unity among Nigeria’s indigenous ethnic groups, emphasizing that collaborative efforts are essential to maintaining peace and security across the nation.
