Julius Berger Gets N10b To Build New State House Clinic

The Federal Government announced on Tuesday that it has released N10.06 billion to Julius Berger for the construction of the State House Clinic’s Presidential Wing.
It is situated on the grounds of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijjani Umar, said this during the pre-handing over inspection of the facility.

He said it would would be ready for delivery on December 31, 2022.
President Muhammadu Buhari, in November 2021, approved a site for the construction of Presidential VIP Wing of the State House Clinic with the Villa.

The project, which when completed is expected to put an end to medical tourism in the country, was estimated to cost N20.9 billion.

The Permanent Secretary provided an overview of the project’s financial status, stating that the Federal Government has released N10.06 billion to contractors for the ongoing project since 2021.

Umar stated that the N416.6 million budgeted for the project in 2020 and the N1.06 billion budgeted for 2021 have been paid in full.

The Permanent Secretary stated that the Federal Government has paid N8.5 billion of the N20.8 billion budgeted for the project in 2022.

Umar recalled that, in accordance with due process, President Buhari had approved the engagement of Messers Julius Berger Plc to review and develop the concept design and proceed with the project’s construction as a turnkey contract.
