According to the Rivers State Police Command, an initial investigation indicated that the deceased, a male, was a known troublemaker in the area and may have been killed by vigilantes. Eyewitnesses, including a market vendor identified only as Emeka, said the man’s stomach had been slashed open, with his intestines reportedly missing. However, Police Spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko clarified that despite rumors, all vital organs were intact.

The police received a report of the body around 10:30 am on November 9, 2024, and are continuing their investigation into the cause of death.
