BREAKING: Oyo Govt Extends Curfew Across 10 LGAs
According to Ireporter Online, the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has approved the extension of the curfew imposed on 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park as part of ongoing efforts to address rising security concerns in the region.
The extension was confirmed on Thursday in an official statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
The curfew, which was initially introduced on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, as a 48-hour restriction running daily from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m., has now been extended and will remain in effect until Saturday, June 27, 2026.
The measure was first implemented to curb incidents of kidnapping and other security challenges reported within the affected areas.
The local government areas under the curfew include Oriire (Ikoyi-Ile), Orelope (Igboho), Irepo (Kisi), Saki West (Saki), Saki East (Ago-Amodu), Atisbo (Tede/Ago-Are), Itesiwaju (Otu), Iseyin (Iseyin), Olorunsogo (Igbeti), and Atiba (Offa-Meta).
Authorities have stated that no additional adjustments have been made to the restrictions beyond the newly approved extension, while residents are urged to comply with the directive as security operations continue in the affected zones.
