Daddy Showkey Reveals How He Survived Alleged Assassination Attempt

Veteran Nigerian musician John Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey, has recounted two separate incidents in which he said he was targeted by suspected assassins, including an attack that allegedly resulted in the death of one of his workers.

According to Ireporter Online, Showkey made the revelations during an interview with The Podcast Network, where he reflected on some of the dangerous experiences he has encountered over the years.

The musician said one of the incidents occurred while he was driving, about three months after an alleged attack at his residence. He explained that he noticed four men on motorcycles following him closely and became suspicious of their movements.

Showkey said he eventually drove into a filling station to purchase fuel, but the men allegedly followed him into the premises and parked nearby.

According to his account, the situation escalated while a fuel attendant was attending to his vehicle, as the men allegedly brought out firearms and opened fire at his car.

He said several bullets struck the vehicle and penetrated different sections, including the seats. Faced with the attack, Showkey said he pretended to have been killed in an attempt to create an opportunity to escape.

The musician alleged that one of the attackers subsequently approached his vehicle, allowing him to force the door open and knock the individual down before getting out.

Showkey said he then confronted the alleged attacker and fought him until he fell, after which he was able to escape the immediate danger.

The veteran entertainer also recalled an earlier incident at his residence, where he alleged that armed men entered his home while he was away.

According to Showkey, he had instructed that his vehicles be taken out for servicing, but the attackers reportedly encountered one of his workers inside the compound.

He claimed the worker was physically large and was allegedly mistaken for his personal security operative by the attackers before he was shot in the chest.

Showkey said he was informed about the incident after it happened and immediately arranged for the worker to be taken to a hospital for medical attention. However, he said the worker later died while receiving treatment.

The musician described the incidents as among the most difficult experiences he has faced and said they remained vivid memories as he reflected on the dangers he had encountered during his career.
