Nigeria’s Military Sounds Alarm As Terrorists Use Social Media To Recruit Fighters

In a recent announcement, the Nigerian military has raised an alarm over intensified online recruitment efforts by terrorist organizations, especially ISWAP. He reassured that the military will continue offensive operations to combat this threat, with recent air and ground operations leading to significant disruptions in terrorist activities.

A recent coordinated airstrike by Operation HADIN KAI on November 6, 2024, targeted terrorist camps in KWALLARAM and ARAINNA CIKI islands in Borno State, resulting in over 70 terrorists being neutralized. Additionally, troops eliminated 169 terrorists, arrested 641 suspects, and intensified actions against terrorism across Nigeria. Anti-terrorism efforts have also led to the seizure of numerous weapons and ammunition.

In efforts against oil theft, the military apprehended 40 suspects and prevented oil theft amounting to over N1.4 billion. In the Niger Delta, troops discovered and dismantled illegal refining sites and seized over 914,445 liters of stolen crude oil, alongside refined products.
