Just In: Manchester United Fires Erik Ten Hag After Club Defeat

Manchester United has officially dismissed Dutch coach Erik Ten Hag, formerly of Ajax, following a 2-1 loss to West Ham United.

“Erik ten Hag has stepped down as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. We thank Erik for his dedication and wish him success in his future endeavors,” read the club’s statement. “Ruud van Nistelrooy will assume interim head coach duties, supported by the current coaching team, while a permanent replacement is found.”

Previously, United considered Ten Hag’s dismissal over the summer after a record-low Premier League finish but ultimately opted to retain him and activate a one-year contract extension under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s leadership.
